Speaking, Listening and Expanding Understanding in Speech Therapy
Help me give my students visual and auditory feedback with the Speak and Listen recording microphone as they expand their expressive and receptive language skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students who receive speech-language services know all about overcoming adversity.
Being aware that you are different from your peers, either in the way you speak or the way you learn and use language can be difficult.
I am inspired everyday by the way my students cope with their speech and language difficulties.
I aim to make my classroom a safe and comfortable place of exploration where my students can gain confidence to persevere through their problems and achieve their dreams.
My Project
All children benefit from hands-on, multisensory learning opportunities, but for children with speech and language difficulties, these opportunities are absolultely essential.
When children struggle to learn from more traditional instruction, interactive, engaging and multi sensory input is crucial for them to gain the skills their peers acquire more easily.
The Speak and Listen recording microphone gives students a fun and engaging way to hear themselves telling stories, explainging and describing. This inherently motivating tool will allow my students to hear how they progress and improve their expressive language skills.
Photo cards, word games and speaking and listening activities provide students with the opportunity to master and practice language skills such as sequencing, describing and using academic vocabulary. These bright and engaging tools will help my students stay intrigued and motivated to reach with speech-language goals!
