My Students

I am a third-grade teacher at a Title I school in Norfolk, VA.

My students live in an urban city and come from many different economic backgrounds.

My classroom consists of English language learners, gifted students, and students with disabilities. I have students of mixed religions and many different races.

My Project

Some of my students struggle with food insecurity at home - which means they don't always have access to snacks at home. These students depend on our school free breakfast and lunch program as well as the school food backpack program. They have access to the basics at home through donations, but they don't necessarily have access to snacks.

This project will provide assorted snacks for each of my students.

This project would provide my students with snacks to eat at home and share with their families. This would lessen the burden placed on their parents when dealing with food insecurity.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
