With every book, supply, donation, etc. I share that love and kindness with my students. It is so important to me that they know there are people out there who care about them. I make it very clear that the things in our room are not a result of my bank account, but the generosity of others! It makes them feel so valued and seen to know \"strangers\" care about them!\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes with the Tonies came in, they were so excited. They literally stop and watch me open the packages, which is then usually followed by squeals of excitement. It takes time to get them downloaded onto the Tonieboxes, which is their least favorite part! So I took them all home over a long weekend and got them all set and downloaded. It makes my heart so happy to see how much they love using them. \r\n\r\nEarlier this year, they were able to get onto the Tonies website and search for one they were excited about. I was happy to hear they were interested in the new novel series! These provide my struggling readers the opportunity to enjoy some of the stories they love. There are also students in other classes who enjoy coming in to borrow one to listen to, either as a reward or as a brain break when they need to get regulated again.\r\n\r\nI am looking forward to using these in my room for years to come. He's a literal sponge soaking everything we do up every day. \r\n\r\nThere are opportunities throughout the day that the students have to be able to do independent reading. He often brings his own book from home, but I wanted to be able to provide him with a selection of books in French in our room as well. When he saw the pile of books, his eyes lit up! Several of them are dual language, so they are written in English and French, which will allow him the opportunity to practice his English, which is something he is passionate about. \r\n\r\nLast week, I learned that I was going to get another French student later this month! We were able to restock their supply pouches with the materials they needed, so I am not starting each lesson by having them say they are missing things. The Expo markers and erasers have been the BIGGEST help though. I used to pass out tissues or paper towels when we used our boards, but now they each have their own eraser, which is so much easier. They work great and are reusable, which makes it even better. \r\n\r\nThere are times where I prefer them to do their work on paper so I can see their thinking, but often times, doing it on their boards is all we need!
