This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Adding a commercial shredder to our school is more than just a practical improvement—it’s a step toward creating a safer, more supportive, and creatively enriching environment for our students.

First and foremost, the shredder will play a vital role in protecting student privacy and well-being.

Schools regularly handle sensitive documents that may include personal information. With a commercial shredder, we can ensure that these materials are properly and securely destroyed, giving families peace of mind and reinforcing the importance of confidentiality to our students. This also helps teach students about digital and physical security—crucial skills in today’s world.

Beyond safety, the shredder will serve as a powerful tool for creativity. The shredded paper will be repurposed and given new life by our talented art students. From papier-mâché projects to textured collages, recycled sculpture bases, and eco-friendly installations, shredded materials will provide a sustainable and budget-conscious resource for artistic expression. Not only does this promote recycling and environmental responsibility, but it also inspires innovation—students will be challenged to think creatively and make the most of the materials they have.

By combining practicality, protection, and artistic potential, a commercial shredder will truly make a difference in our school. It will support the safety of our students while also fueling their creativity and self-expression in meaningful, hands-on ways.
