My Students

Our school consists of over 800 students in preschool through fifth grade. Over half of our population is considered low income and qualifies for free or reduced lunch. Our school represents a wide range of cultures, including African American, American Indian, Hawaiian, Hispanic, Cuban, Asian, and more.

Many students receive English Language Learning services, as their native language is not English.

Our staff works hard to support all of our students and provide them with a quality education, despite their many hardships.

My students range from kindergarten to second grade. All of my students have learning difficulties, social/emotional problems, live in poverty, and most qualify for free lunch. My kids work very hard to overcome their weaknesses they are born into.

My Project

Teaching students means that sometimes there will be situations when one feels anxious or struggles to focus. Having a variety of sensory items to offer the student can help curb those feelings.

There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a student struggle with these emotions and not being able to help them.

By having Velcro, stress balls, bands for the chair or desk, wobble cushions, and more sensory items, I can give my students a way to calm those nerves or pay more attention when learning.

Every student needs to be given the opportunity to learn in the best way possible and these sensory items can help!
