Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities and materials serve as invaluable resources in a special needs classroom by providing structured, supportive opportunities for students to develop essential life skills tailored to their unique challenges. Many students with special needs face difficulties with emotional regulation, social communication, impulse control, or building relationships, and SEL tools—such as visual emotion charts, calming corners, mindfulness exercises, and interactive social stories—offer concrete strategies to address these areas. By incorporating SEL, educators can foster greater self-awareness, teach coping mechanisms for frustration or anxiety, and promote positive peer interactions, which in turn reduces behavioral incidents and creates a calmer, more inclusive learning environment. Ultimately, these resources not only support students’ emotional well-being and resilience but also enhance their readiness for academic learning and successful participation in school and community settings.
