I am requesting Rekenreks for my class to use during math practice. They are a math manipulative that use beads to help them understand addition, subtraction, skip counting, counting, and number sense skills. They are also called Abacus' which are used in Japanese schools to help build math concepts. My students all have learning disabilities that make understanding and progressing in math difficult for them. This resource will allow them to make sense of the critical math concepts they need to begin closing the gap compared to their same age peers. In using this math resource, they are able to better understand the difficult concepts that have prevented them from academic gains.
