My students need a decent CD/MP3 player in order to write their papers with Mozart - even the kids in the back of the room!

Kids from thirty different world cultures spend their hours together in my English classes writing papers, and all learn that Mozart playing in the background help them with their compositions and dispositions.

Most of my students live in poverty and have little exposure to the higher cultural pursuits. Mozart and other composers help students focus when they're writing and calms them when they're testing (scientifically proven). It also gives this English teacher a chance to open doors to music that they are otherwise not exposed to, especially since the lack of funding for the arts has wiped out our music programs at my school - except the one music history elective I had to beg, borrow, and plead for to teach. To compound matters, my CD player is dying!

Along with my English classes, my music history elective needs a decent CD/MP3 system to help bridge the gap between the Cd's I own and the technology the kids have, and will allow them to contribute their music to the class - thus teaching the teacher.

Your support will not only help my students with their writing skills, but will also expose them to a whole new world they did not know existed. It is very gratifying to have students request certain composers to write by, and to know the difference between the Baroque, Classical, and Impressionist masters. It will also be nice to teach music history with a player that can be heard by the students who sit in the back of the class!
