My students have everything going against them, and are struggling to break free from the restraints society has placed on them by staying in school and making something of themselves. This is the inner-city: proud and unapologetic. I teach them World History. They leave understanding that they are not alone and that anything is possible if they really want it. We are all in very good company, after all.
