Students use the headphones to follow along with step-by-step constructions while using compasses, tracing paper, and manipulatives to create their own precise diagrams.\r\n\r\nOne standout moment came during a lesson on angle relationships. Students used the AngLegs tools to physically build angles while listening to guided instructions through their headphones. It allowed them to connect what they were hearing with what they were creating, and I saw a noticeable increase in both accuracy and confidence.\r\n\r\nThey were genuinely excited—especially about the headphones. Many students immediately commented on how helpful it would be to have their own set so they could focus without distractions. There was also a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm around the geometry tools, with students eager to try them out and explore how they worked.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most meaningful was the sense of ownership—students recognized that these materials were for them, and that someone had invested in their learning. That made a real impact on their mindset.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be applying these tools in a hands-on geometry project where they design and construct their own geometric figures and explain the relationships between angles, lines, and shapes. They will use tracing paper and compasses for precision, manipulatives to test ideas, and headphones to access support as needed.\r\n\r\nThe goal is for students to not only understand the math but to communicate their thinking clearly and confidently. These resources will continue to support independent learning, deeper engagement, and stronger problem-solving skills as we move forward.","fullyFundedDate":1771651434942,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-hands-on-geometry-and-a-cal/9869404/","projectTitle":"Headphones, Hands-On Geometry, and a Calming Space for Math Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Farkas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8421762_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1650753080610","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrfarkas"},{"teacherId":8421762,"projectId":9545505,"letterContent":"My students and I are loving these new materials! Having graphing notebooks, markers, colored pencils, and colorful dry erase markers in the math classroom makes instruction so much clearer for students to learn and to help one another.\r\n\r\nEvery day students use multiple colors on their individual dry erase boards and erasable vertical surfaces, like class whiteboards, to make their thinking and steps clear to one another. Our brains make connections through color, especially in complex subjects such as Algebra, Geometry and Statistics where students have historically struggled.\r\n\r\nMy students were overjoyed to see the new materials and were excited to put them to use right away. The moment my students saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. One student shouted, \"We get to play Lotería? In class?!\" and from that moment, I knew these tools would be both engaging and educational.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite activities so far has been using the Lotería cards during our Spanish language and vocabulary lessons. Students practiced identifying and describing the pictures in Spanish, helping them build both their language skills and cultural awareness in a fun, interactive way. \r\n\r\nWe've also used the sequencing cards. Students worked in small groups to tell a story using the cards. It was amazing to see them collaborate, use critical thinking, and proudly explain the beginning, middle, and end of the story in their own words.\r\n\r\nThe books have sparked some great discussions and independent reading time. One student, who previously struggled with staying focused, was so engaged with a new book that he asked to take it home to finish it. \r\n\r\nAnd of course, the cleaning supplies have helped us keep our learning space organized, safe, and welcoming. Students have taken ownership of keeping their area clean, which has been a great lesson in responsibility and community.\r\n\r\nThank you for bringing joy, structure, and learning into our classroom. Students jumped at the chance to not only design t-shirts but also to customize graduation sashes and create letters for bulletin boards and posters. Their reactions were filled with joy and pride as they engaged with the materials.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue using these resources for various projects throughout the year.
