Help me give my students a class set of novels and bookmarks to provide them with the opportunity to fall in love with reading and explore diverse characters and themes!

My Project

This year, our students will dive deeper into texts by participating in novel study units. Our first two units focus on realistic fiction texts that feature main characters struggling to fit in or remain true to their identities in new environments.

Research has shown that students who read fiction gain a greater sense of empathy for others and their circumstances.

We would love to put a book in the hand of each child as they connect with characters, reflect on their own experiences, and learn lessons that will help them to be successful in their own lives outside of the classroom.

Having these books will allow students to participate fully in independent and group reading, engage in valuable classroom discussions, and reference the text to complete novel study unit projects throughout the year.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
