Reading Corner

Help me give my students comfortable places to read and informational books to help them in our writing projects.

My Students

Our students are bright and hard working. They delight me every day with their stories and creativity. Our school has about 50% of the students who are low income. About 25% of my class are English learners.

Most of my students don't have many books in their homes, but they love books and reading.

We have a classroom library corner where they gravitate. I love that they want to show the library off to their family members at parent teacher conferences. I want the library to be a place where they can have rich and rewarding experiences with books and a place they can be proud of.

My Project

My wonderful students come from homes where reading is not always emphasized or they have access to books. I have tried in my classroom to create an environment rich in books and learning. I want them to love reading and have positive associations with time spent in a book.

I would love to have comfortable places for them to read, where they can enjoy immersing themselves in a good book.

I have also requested nonfiction books that are aligned with our third grade curriculum. We do informational essays and the books I selected will make their research easier and give them more books to choose from.
