My Students

My students are resilient, determined, and have a positive attitude about their education. They have noticeable gaps in their learning due to shutdowns, quarantines, and other hardships placed on them during this pandemic. However, my students continue to push themselves to understand and master the content taught.

These students are a grab bag of learning styles.

Some internalize concepts through illustrations, while others have to continue to practice their skills to become masters. However, my classroom is a community of learners that are supportive of everyone's learning journey.

This most recent year the students have been able to interact with each other, and their interactions and collaborations have helped them make leaps in bounds in their learning compared to last year when they were more isolated and independent.

My Project

These printers for my classroom are going to be used to help bolster my students' technology fluency and also give students an outlet for their creativity. This is a project that can be applied in the classroom, or students will be able to hone their skills at home.

Despite being heavily reliant on technology over the past two years due to COVID-19, my students are still technologically illiterate.

Their typing skills have improved and they are able to navigate a couple of websites, but the knowledge and abilities with many aspects of the computer are lacking. These 3D printers will give the students an opportunity to learn how to design, learn skills and create projects from websites like Thingiverse and Sketchfab.

These projects will be able to be accessed while at school and also at home. Designing at home would always be an optional task, and those students who gravitate to it will have limitless opportunities to create various projects. However, my goal is to incorporate 3D printers into various subjects like math, social studies, and science. Students will be required to participate in these projects and they will be able to see their hard work come to life.
