Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 30 fourth graders come from low-income families. The majority of them live in multi-family homes. They are first-generation English learners. They are trying their best and that's all I can ask for.
My students are great kids who deserve the same opportunities as everyone else.
They are very enthusiastic and optimistic. Fortunately, for us, we are back learning in person now. They show up every day with smiles on their faces and are eager to learn, even though we are required to wear masks inside and outside. They are an amazing group of kids.
My Project
I would like to share these Amazon gift cards with our kiddos who are working hard each day and trying their best. The same way we like to be rewarded for our accomplishments and work so do our kiddos. The prizes will also be used as rewards to help keep on students motivated to learn. The prizes will consist of gift cards, character pencils, Dr. Seuss pens, bookmarkers, and squishes.
We need to celebrate our children's success instead of focusing on the learning loss covid created.
Many of our students are making great strides and are persevering despite the anxiety and everyday emotional roller coaster. They are coming to school where they wait to see if we are the next class covid shuts down which can cause a lot of anxiety. These gift cards and prizes will be used as rewards for our kiddos for their effort and achievement. It will reinforce positive behaviors and show our children that their efforts are being noticed.
