Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need to be able to face the working world ready to compete with other workers. At the present time they will face the working world at a disadvantage because of their lack of exposure to things that other students take for granted.

My kids come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The majority of them are English learners and their parents as well as them are mostly undocumented. They came to America for a better chance but because of their parent's income level, they are still getting the short end of the stick. Our school is a very poor school. We can barely afford supplies for the students not to mention the extras. We have 44 families in our school that are homeless. They don't really know what they are going to eat that day but their parents still bring them to school so that they can get an education. A few years ago we had a sponsor for our school but as times got hard economically, the sponsor faded away. My students do not have the opportunity to experience the things that my children do or that we take for granted. They have never been to Disneyland, had an electronic toy or played with a puzzle.

My Project

My children need the opportunity to learn on an even playing field, and your donations will help them accomplish that. Many students turn off from school because they are basically being lectured to, but this tablet will allow them to become excited about learning and to tap into learning in a different way. Research has shown that 5-6 year olds learn mostly by hearing and seeing. This will allow them to do just that. The students will be able to play educational games as well as be exposed to the internet in an educational way.

This project is important to me because I believe in these kids.

I believe that they deserve a fighting chance. They are our future leaders and as the old saying goes, "you get out what you put in". Education is not just for the rich, it is for everyone. Many famous people that have made a difference in the lives of others have come from humble backgrounds. We just need a helping hand to make the difference in the lives of others that can not provide for themselves.
