My kids come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The majority of them are English learners and their parents as well as them are mostly undocumented. They came to America for a better chance but because of their parent's income level, they are still getting the short end of the stick. Our school is a very poor school. We can barely afford supplies for the students not to mention the extras. We have 44 families in our school that are homeless. They don't really know what they are going to eat that day but their parents still bring them to school so that they can get an education. A few years ago we had a sponsor for our school but as times got hard economically, the sponsor faded away. My students do not have the opportunity to experience the things that my children do or that we take for granted. They have never been to Disneyland, had an electronic toy or played with a puzzle.
