My Students

My school is a Title I school, meaning that a majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. Many of them come from traumatic and stressful home situations and have school as their safe place. At our school, we try to not just be their teachers, but also the role models that they may or may not have at home.

Despite the challenges these students face in their personal lives, they still come to school hopeful.

They look to the teachers and classmates as members of their families, and we are proud to work through the struggles each day as we support one another.

My Project

Every year, teachers, parents, and students experience the summer slide.

I would like to gift each of my tier 3 students with something to use for practicing their academic skills over the summer.

This takes the pressure off of parents to find things for their child to do while allowing the student to practice previously taught skills so that they stay fresh in their mind.

With students having a workbook to practice, they will hopefully not experience the summer slide of losing relevant grade level material they should retain from the previous year, over the summer, and then into the next year.
