This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Recently we had a Grade 6 student come up to us with a request. A simple one at that, one that we never thought we'd hear. "Can we start an art club?" Not only was I extremely thrilled by this request, but also so proud to see her using her voice to advocate for herself, and fellow students! Our school is in a 90% low income area-and what these kids really want, and really need are more extracurricular activities.

Art opens so many doors for students, opportunities to express and learn - and I want nothing more than to provide them to chance to do so.

After getting permission from administration to go ahead with the club, all we need is some supplies (carving tools, oil pastels, etc.) to get it up and going. I truly love art, and desired to be an art teacher myself growing up-and I can't wait to share that love with my students!! Help us raise these funds to give these kids a new experience that they asked for!
