My Students

We are a highly impacted public junior high school in Utah. Our students come from all over the globe. Students at my school come from over 45 countries and speak over 30 languages.. They love learning and enjoy school. Despite the challenges they face, they work hard and always try their best.

My scholars have the potential to change the world.

However, to do this, they need the tools and resources to help them achieve their own possibilities. Every day, they meet adversity and obstacles head-on and say, "We will not let you defeat us. We are AVID!" AVID, the program I teach, is a national program where students learn organization, note-taking, collaboration, and problem-solving to support them in their core classes and prepare them for success in high school, college, career, and beyond.

My Project

Neon Green, Bright Pink, Neon Yellow. These are just a few of the bright, bold colors of the cardstock my students can use to create learning projects, make word wall cards, and use to connect their learning. Using cardstock instead of regular weight paper means that my students have a more durable, long-lasting way to engage in their learning.

My students will use this cardstock to make and present visually appealing One Pagers, student-led Academic Word Walls, and other learning projects.

Our students can refer back to the word walls for the duration of the year, learning the words, practicing using available resources, and continually building on their learning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
