My Students

My students bring their best selves to class every day. They work hard to be brave in our math class. Sharing your mathematical thinking can be a challenge at any age; my learners are developing the confidence to explain and defend their thinking to their peers.

We spend our class time breaking down fears about math and encouraging creative thinking.

We explore ideas and search for the meanings behind algorithms. As we find new ways to interact with math and express our thinking, students are creating meaningful connections with the material.

My Project

At the beginning of the school year donors funded a project that supplied my classroom with deodorant, mouthwash, feminine hygiene products, and snacks. My students actually cheered out loud when the products arrived!

Whether for last minute emergencies or to fill in for items they don't have at home, my students make regular use of our classroom stock of hygiene and food items.

So much so that we're already running out! Having access to these items helps my students focus on learning instead of worrying about hunger or hygiene. It may seem like a small thing but it makes a big difference in their day.
