My Project

Many of my students come to the library seeking books on LGBTQ+ topics. Such books help LGBTQ+ students gain insight into their own experiences, and having these books in the library communicates to students that they are seen and their presence is valued. These books also help these students' peers learn about the lives of LGBTQ+ people, which develops their understanding and empathy.

Having a collection of LGBTQ+ books in the library sends a powerful message to students that the library is not only a place where they can find the information they need; it is also a place where they are safe, welcomed, and celebrated---just as all students deserve to be.
