My Project

I am requesting sets of decodable readers for my students. Decodable texts are carefully designed reading materials that encourage children to sound out words using decoding strategies. Students can "decode" the text, using familiar phonics skills to read words instead of relying on patterns, pictures, and memorized sight words to guess what the book is saying. First grade is a huge year for students learning to read. There is nothing better then to see the huge grin on a students face when they realize they are becoming a reader!

My students are eager to become fluent readers and deserve quality educational materials to help them reach this goal.

My students display a range of ability levels and these decodable text cover a variety of skills from short vowels to vowel teams allowing me to teach each student exactly where they are.
