Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. We are a rural school, Title I with about a third from Hispanic heritage. Our students attend a Dual Immersion Spanish/English school, they spend half the day learning English and the other in Spanish. Many of my students have limited resources for completing assignments and supplies. Yet, they engage and do their best to improve and perform well for their teachers and parents. They make me so proud.
My Project
Manipulatives, realia and experiments are essentials in my class for teaching the math and science standards. The resources I am requesting will help our students build a habitat of their preference, name and learn specific facts about their habitat, display it and present it to our school. Other materials will allow my students to participate doing experiments and play math games as they work together in groups or with partners.
These experiences will help students reconnect with their peers, grow closer, will work together to present, practice social skills, cultivate friendships and complete habitat projects, as well as learn as they play math games.
Games and hands on projects like these will lighten up the load and brighten the day of each student in my class. Please choose to be a part of this project. It will make such a difference in my students lives.
