Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a group of 15 exceptional students, grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd. My students have special needs ranging from moderate learning disabilities to severe needs. We would like to request a learning library to supplement the experience of having our new Leap Pads.
There are many requirements for multi-sensory learning in our classroom to promote success. My students and I have found that Leap Pad systems best meet our varied needs. In addition to that, we have a high number of English Language Learners in our classroom every year.
Thanks to a recent donation, we received 7 new Leap Pad units! Now, what the students need the most are sets of exciting and interesting books to use with these wonderful computerized systems! Building our Leap Pad library will allow for maximum success in a wide variety of academic areas.
My students have many talents and interests that assist them in learning skills such as reading, math, science, problem-solving strategies, language and social issues. All of these essential skills and many more are covered in the Leap Pad stories, using clever musical activities, engaging characters and well-developed text.
By using their special talents in music, science, etc. My students have greatly improved their speech and language skills, their ability to retain new information in their memory and increase their time on task.
Clearly, the Leap Pad systems have made learning extremely fun and have opened up a new world of learning opportunities for my special needs students! The students will enjoy many hours over the years, reading and rhyming, singing and solving problems as we LEAP into the LOVE of READING!
