My Students

As teachers in an inclusion class in a Title I school, my co-teacher and I have students who face many challenges daily. These challenges can range from not knowing who is going to pick them up from school that day to not having someone home to help them with their homework. Some students come to school hungry and without supplies. Inclusion also means teaching students with and without special needs (students with and without IEPs). These special needs can be related to specific learning disabilities, autism, other health impairments, and cerebral palsy.

If you were to walk into our "inclusion" classroom, you would not be able to tell which students have special needs and which do not.

They all have unique and special needs that we need to meet.

We consider each child as an individual with unique needs. We teach the whole child. We meet each pupil where they are emotionally, behaviorally, socially, and educationally to help them succeed to their highest potential.

My Project

My district is making plans for our students to return to school on a hybrid schedule. They will be in school for two days and complete asynchronous learning for three days. The supplies in this project will allow me to give my students individual supplies that can be left at school.

These new supplies will specifically be for school.

Students will be able to have a set of supplies at home and a set of supplies at school. They will not need to carry supplies back and forth from home to school every day. Since we will will no longer be able to share supplies, this project will also allow all students to have their own set in the classroom. Learning from home and at school during the week can be difficult with 1st graders. Having 2 sets of supplies will help keep everyone organized.
