We would like to incorporate flexible seating in our 1st grade inclusion classroom. Flexible seating can allow students to take more ownership in their learning. It promotes student engagement, motivation, and participation. Kids don't need to sit still to learn. In fact, over the last few years in our own classroom, we have seem more and more students choose to stand, sit on stools, and sit on the floor while working. As long as they are working, we let them. Why not? If they are not bothering anyone and they are learning, We let them. Would you wouldn't want to sit in a chair all day and not be able to move around? We will use the Wobble Chairs and the Fitball Seating Discs to provide students options for flexible seating and movement. Both of these seating options will allow students to move while they are independently working or actively engaged in a lesson. They can be used during whole group, small group, guided reading, center time, and individual seat work time. Please help our students become life long moving learners!
