Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title 1 school located in district 6 in Harlem, New York, a very diverse district. The school’s demographics consist of Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, Whites, and Others. At my school, 15% of the student body are students with learning disabilities, and 86% are eligible for free lunch. The diverse nature of our student body is what makes us special and what brings me to work every day.

My students are a group of fearless and creative individuals with a tremendous curiosity to learn and longing drive to be successful.

They are open to learning about each other's culture and different perspectives which makes our community stronger.

I believe in computer literacy, and strongly believe that this is some of what is missing in our classroom. I want to give my students the benefit of interacting with the plethora of educational resources that exist online. I also believe in allowing them the experience of working with peers and educators in the most innovative way by using apps like google classroom to push my students to utilize technology on a daily basis so they are ready for the global job market.

My Project

My students are all learning remotely due to the pandemic. Many of them have lost family members from Covid-19. This year, I want to buy an engaging high school level curriculum to help my students master Spanish!

This curriculum will teach them Spanish and uplift their spirits!

This curriculum is designed for remote learning and will provide fun activities for us to do every day, while mastering the Spanish language!

Experts in language learning say that students must be engaged and having fun while learning a language- and I know that SOMOS online curriculum will help us!

Learning Spanish will give my students a tool for them to compete on the global job market and become overall better citizens- Please help Harlem become bililgual!
