Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Professional development through The Writing Revolution’s Hochman Method training will strengthen my ability to teach writing explicitly and effectively in my K–2 classroom. Early elementary students need strong foundations in sentence structure, vocabulary, organization, and critical thinking in order to become confident readers and writers. This professional development will provide me with research-based strategies to help students build these essential skills step by step.

Through this training, I will learn how to break writing into manageable, developmentally appropriate tasks that support all learners, including emerging writers, multilingual learners, students with disabilities and students who need additional language support.

I will apply these strategies daily through sentence-level activities, oral language practice, structured discussions, and scaffolded writing tasks connected to reading, science, and social studies instruction.

Students will benefit from clearer instruction, increased confidence in expressing their ideas, and stronger reading comprehension and communication skills. The Hochman Method emphasizes thinking and language development alongside writing, helping young learners organize their thoughts, use academic vocabulary, and explain their reasoning more effectively. These skills will support success across all subject areas and help create a strong academic foundation for years to come.
