My Project

I absolutely love the amount of effort I witness from the students at our school when they are working hard. This often includes writing. We often refer to situations where students are working diligently as "brain sweat" or "butts up" activities. The students are so into what they are doing that they want to stand as they work.

Unfortunately, for some children, the act of writing is more challenging than the thinking and creating process.

Many students do not hold pencils correctly and apply such intense force that their hands hurt after writing for a few minutes. Providing large triangular shaped pencils helps students grip a pencil correctly and apply less force. This is especially true with students that have dyslexia, dysgraphia, or have other fine motor skill deficits.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
