I am requesting your support in order to obtain two Dell laptops to enhance my students' learning. They will be a valuable tool for researching and keyboarding skills. I tell my students that the goal of Language Arts intervention is not to learn to read, but to read to learn. Students are missing opportunities to enhance their knowledge base because we lack the necessary technology. When they are reading and encounter a reference to people, places, or events that they are unfamiliar with, I want them to stop and take a minute to research and learn. We currently have to share one laptop to research and type essays. Think of all the new places we can travel to and people we will meet with our new technology. Not only will the Dell computers strengthen my students' research skills, but also improve keyboarding and editing. This is essential for 21st-Century learners.
