Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students inspire me with their energetic interest in possibilities. I see their endless potential and thus believe they are a hope and a wish for a bright future. It is up to me and my colleagues to find ways to maintain their interests, spark their imaginations and harness this potential to help mold the future generations of this world.

At this age, so much is changing; their lives, their minds, their education.

And, even though this change is daunting and seemingly endless, many of them greet each day, ready to accept the challenge that lies before them; another mark of their potential.

What is most inspiring about these students is their circumstances. I teach in a Title I school with a wide variety of languages, ethnicity, and home-life situations. Yet, my students keep going. They keep coming to school, trying their best and giving it their all in the hopes that one day, despite whatever odds may be against them, they will tap into that potential, use what we have taught them and become the future generation of all educators aspire to cultivate.

My Project

My students have so many book requests! This list is just another installment of the books my students would like to see on our classroom shelves.

New books make for such enticing reading material: the shiny covers free from marks or tears, the crisp new pages with their freshly-printed-ink smell; My students are all about having these new books in our classroom!

They will make such a lovely addition to our shelves and will certainly go a long way toward replacing some of the tired paperbacks that have seen much love, but might be ready for a new chapter.

These new books will undoubtedly increase my students' interest in reading, especially since they requested these titles themselves! We can't wait to see these on our shelves, and with your help, they'll be here in no time! Thank you!
