From Analog, Through Digital and Photo Book Publishing
Help me give my students two updated iMac computers to enable them to scan negatives to computers, process digital photographs, utilizing Adobe Photo Shop CS7, and finally, make quality prints through Epson Pro 800 series professional printer.
Creative, enthusiastic and highly motivated, my photography students are excited to transition from analog (darkroom) photography into digital, photoshop manipulation and professional printing.
Students are excited about their community and neighborhoods, near and far as sources of inspiration to explore through their camera lens.
Students are creating a portfolio for college and career. They juxtapose two languages, analog and digital photography. They are developing both a physical portfolio as well as an online Google Drive accessible one.
My students are a culturally and economically diverse group of New York City artists. They collaborate well, teach and learn from each other as well as myself. The room is electric with their excitement for photography.
My Project
Current computers are dated and crashing! Students are thrilled at new possibilities as they transition from darkroom photography into digital processes, from scanning, manipulating photographs on PhotoShop, to ultimate digital printing.
Retinal display computers are perfectly suited to the visual arts, especially photography with details and color in high resolution.
These updated computer screens will more closely mimic the quality of the hard copy print.
Students will be creating physical portfolios as well as Google Drive portfolios for college and career, and also for professional exhibition. They will conclude Advanced Photography by designing and editing a photo book through an online website.
