My Students

C.K.M.S. is one of three middle schools in Kauai. We have students from a variety of backgrounds which provides a rich multicultural environment. They are able to demonstrate their academic growth each day with the contributions to the classroom lessons and activities. As middle school students they are learning how to advocate for themselves and express what they need to be successful.

Being able to work with the students from both teams allows for a unique blended learning environment with a focus on math.

My Project

With 105 students coming in and out of the classroom every other day, making my math classroom as comfortable as it can be is a huge need. The different seating options will help my students that have a hard time sitting still.

It also provides students motivation to complete work and can be used as an incentive.

The basic resources such as file folders or pencils will help my students have some of the materials needed to be successful. This also allows students that struggle with organization a resource to complete their work or a place to put their work so it can be used when it is needed. The LED lights will allow my students to have a learning setting that is not the typical environment to help them feel more comfortable in the classroom.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
