My Project

1/5 students in our city have English as their second language.

We are enrolling new students in school every day. Many are recent immigrants to the U.S. and all students are required to pass an English class to graduate high school. As an English teacher, it is a challenge to scaffold literature to give these students access.

Graphic novels help break down literature into manageable amounts for ELL's to have the same access to the skills and information as the other students in class. The pictures help them connect the words with the meaning.

I have also asked for some classroom supplies. Each of the supplies help support the students' learning for different activities in class.
