My Students

Students at my school are inquisitive and resilient. I am a third-grade teacher at a predominately military school, about 80% of the student population comes from military families. Many of my students are new to the school and the community. It is important to have a variety of interactive lessons to engage my learners.

My Project

My students will be able to engage with science materials. They will interact with a variety of magnets, balance scales, spring scales, etc. to learn about forces and interactions. Students will be able to use these interactions to learn science vocabulary and the laws of physics. They will be able to show what they learned by designing their own way to use magnets to solve a real-life problem like sorting scrap metal from general trash, creating a latch to keep a door shut, creating a device to keep two moving objects from touching each other.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
