This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our classroom, direct instruction happens on our rug most of the time. This means scholars leave their desks to sit for 15-20 minutes on the rug to engage in a lesson. Then, they return to their groups to work with the new concepts they have learned. A mentor was kind enough to donate a used rug to my classroom in my first year of teaching, but that rug is nearing its end and we would love a rug with spots to help with student seating.

A new rug would brighten up our classroom, help encourage student participation in direct instruction, and the spots will help with scholars who have a difficult time following procedures.
