Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders work incredibly hard every day building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. They practice phonics, learn sight words, solve math problems, and grow more confident as young learners.

To celebrate their progress and keep learning joyful and meaningful, I would love to create a Doughnut Theme Day experience in our classroom!

This special day will turn our classroom into a hands-on learning celebration where students rotate through engaging doughnut-themed centers. Each activity will reinforce key skills while making learning exciting and memorable.

What Students Will Do:

“Hole-y” Math Center: Solve addition and subtraction problems using doughnut manipulatives and ten frames

Doughnut Word Work: Build CVC and sight words using doughnut-themed letter cards

Design Your Own Doughnut Writing: Students describe and write about their custom donut creations using descriptive language

Read & Respond: Doughnut-themed read-aloud with comprehension questions and discussion

Craft Station: Design their own paper donut to celebrate creativity and individuality

A Doughnut Theme Day will not just be a fun celebration—it will be a powerful learning experience wrapped in joy, creativity, and engagement.
