Diverse Take Home Books for Diverse Learners

Help me give my students diverse books that illustrate diversity, equity, and anti-racism and bags to store them in.

My Students

Enthusiastic, energetic, empathetic, creative, inclusive, and motivated are a few words that come to mind when thinking about the learners in my class. As an intervention teacher, I am given the opportunity to work with different students in a range of grades. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to interact with students that are curious, passionate, and so thoughtful. These students desire to succeed, and I consider it a gift that I am allowed to coach them and provide new pathways to success.

"The innocence of children is what makes them stand out as a shining example to the rest of mankind." -Kurt Chambers

My Project

Access to interesting, diverse books of various reading levels and that promote diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism, is a must in keeping adolescents engaged in and growing a love for reading. My goal, as a teacher, is to make kids better readers and I am able to do that when I can provide students with diverse books that represent them and that are on their reading level.

My dream is for students to struggle to make a book choice not because there is not anything they want to read, but because there are so many books they want to get their hands on.

Giving children a place to store books that they have chosen helps them stay motivated to read. The more motivated they are to read, the better readers they become. The books bags are needed to store our books in and keep them in tip-top shape. These bags are durable and will last us many years to come. Having these materials will help support my students in becoming lifetime readers!
