This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 6th-grade teacher in a school with limited resources. My school is in an urban environment where all my students qualify for and receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily. Most of my students are considered low-income. Some of my students come from all around the world and are learning English.

Despite these financial obstacles and hardships, my students work very hard and are eager to learn.

I want my students to feel successful at all times.

There are so many things that we can use in the classroom that will aid all students, yet as teachers in a low-income district, we don't have access to them.

My Project

I teach ELA to 70 6th grade students every day. They are incredible kids from all over the world. So many of them come to me truly not enjoying reading whatsoever. It is my goal every year to have my students leave me having found a joy in reading that they have never experienced before.

These kids very often come to school with little to no supplies.

I supply so much of the materials in my classroom, and everyday items like pencils and markers get used up so quickly. These donations help my students with their learning and feel comfortable in my classroom every single day.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
