My Project

My students are caring, thoughtful, and have the big hearts! They love to help by doing things for others. They are always so grateful when they have received support from the community and are looking forward to paying it forward.

Service-learning drives personal growth and development in students while allowing them to connect with their social studies and social and emotional learning coursework.

This project will be an extra special gift of caring and love for others.

Giving Wellness buddies to the elderly who may be dealing with health issues or feeling blue will help students learn kindness and empathy and is aligned with the Service Stars' monthly mission to promote wellness. Students will create "wellness buddies" by providing the elderly in the senior living community with cute little buddies to help cheer them up so they are not lonely when they are feeling down or are not well. The stuffed animals are the buddies, and the various-sized boxes and mini-container carriers will be used as carriers.

The pipe cleaners and pony beads will be used to make little caring bracelets or can be used to make mini collars for wellness buddies. The cards and envelopes will be used to create wellness cards or for messages of care and to help uplift their spirits. The small clear pouches will be used to house stickers to help decorate the animal carriers, woven bags are to carry them all. Clear labels will be needed to help label the mini containers with messages.
