Comfy, Safe, and Focused Calming Corner

Help me give my students a calming literacy center to enhance focus in the classroom and give students the opportunity to succeed.

My Students

I teach in a 3rd grade classroom. My students are so bright, silly, and creative. Everyday in my classroom is an adventure and I love spending my days teaching them new things. They love learning and are so inquisitive about the new information they learn. They love technology and hands-on learning. They truly inspire me to be the best teacher I can be!

My Project

My goal is to give my students a literacy calming corner. With many of my students coming from a low income households, many don't have the resources to teach themselves self regulating strategies. By me offering a calming corner I will give students a safe place to gather their thoughts and feelings and then return to class when they are ready. Many of the items I asked for will help me create a safe and comfortable area for students to express themselves. They will be able to do this while also using the calming corner as a literacy center. This means that the corner will be used for them to read and express themselves through literacy.

When students have a calm space to use to help regulate their emotions, class becomes a safe and nurturing place for all.
