We use the books daily during small group instruction, independent reading, partner reading, and literacy centers. One of my favorite moments was watching students eagerly gather around to discuss characters and make predictions during a read-aloud lesson. Students who were once hesitant readers are now excited to participate, share their thoughts, and recommend books to their classmates.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were thrilled. Many immediately began flipping through the books, talking with friends about which ones they wanted to read first, and asking if they could start reading right away. Their excitement was contagious, and it created an instant sense of motivation and curiosity throughout the classroom.\r\n\r\nThese resources are also helping us continue building important reading and comprehension skills. Our next steps include deeper work with comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, and student-led discussions about texts. Students will also be working on reading response activities where they make connections, analyze characters, and explain themes using evidence from the stories they read. The materials have helped create a classroom environment where students feel excited to learn, grow, and develop confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students access to resources that are making such a positive difference in both their learning and their love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1742823908146,"projectUrl":"project/dry-erase-board-for-3rd-grade/9138017/","projectTitle":"Dry Erase Board for 3rd Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Koger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7835054_orig.jpg?crop=271,271,x38,y119&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715623589107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7835054"},{"teacherId":7835054,"projectId":9222004,"letterContent":"These new books have made a huge impact on my students and the excitement for reading in our classroom. The texts have allowed students to practice important literacy skills such as comprehension, vocabulary development, fluency, making predictions, identifying story elements, and building confidence with independent reading. We have also been able to focus on deeper thinking skills like making connections to characters, inferring meaning, and discussing themes and lessons within stories.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active, engaging, and student-centered. Students participate in small group instruction, partner reading, read-aloud discussions, and independent reading time each day. The new books have helped create a classroom environment where students are eager to pick up a book and talk about what they are reading with their classmates. It has been incredible to see students become more willing to take risks with challenging texts because they are genuinely interested in the stories.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to stay engaged during reading time are now some of the first to grab a book from our classroom library. One student who was often hesitant to read aloud has started volunteering during group reading because she found a series she connects with and enjoys. Another student who typically had difficulty remaining focused during literacy centers now spends extra time reading independently and sharing facts and details from the books with peers. Watching students build confidence, excitement, and a love for reading has been the most rewarding part of this project.\r\n\r\nThese books are not just helping students improve academically—they are helping them see themselves as readers. I am so grateful for the support that made these meaningful learning experiences possible for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1746787131020,"projectUrl":"project/book-corner-for-kids/9222004/","projectTitle":"Book Corner for Kids!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Koger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7835054_orig.jpg?crop=271,271,x38,y119&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715623589107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7835054"},{"teacherId":7725095,"projectId":9512890,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom.
