My Project

This year my school has made the switch to daily whole school literacy intervention. Otherwise known as WIN: What I Need.

What I Need time provides targeted daily intensive literacy instruction for students exactly where they are.

The supplies that I am asking for will help me keep my manipulatives and instructional materials neatly organized and well presented. The colorful binder clips and pocket charts will help me organize and present 95% Group Phonics Intervention Lessons. The pocket charts that I have requested will hold the cards that students need to see and access during each daily lesson. The binder clips will hold the reading passages and fluency phrases that students use to practice daily. All of these supplies will help build reading fluency and proficiency.

Every day students analyze and practice words that connect with targeted Tier 3 phonics lessons. Students move around the school to different classrooms. I teach multiple groups in a day. I will have more targeted time if I have multiple pocket charts. These supplies will give me the ability to keep my materials organized and ready to go at the beginning of each intervention block; therefore, giving me 15 extra minutes of instruction time a week. 15 minutes a week becomes an hour a month, time my students need me to be teaching them.

I teach half day and provide intervention the other half of the day. I facilitate groups for students at all grade and age levels in my rural elementary school: Kindergarten through fifth grade.
