Help me give my students a chance to understand both how to make money and how to spend it. The kit and the books will give them hands on experience.

My Students

My students are primarily minorities. All of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. 95% of my students live below the poverty level. My students families are unfamiliar with how to handle or save money. Most of them live from paycheck to pay check. They have chosen to attend our academy because it is small and designed to help students to acquire missed skills and move to grade level mastery.

My students need to understand the world of finance and to use credit to their benefit and understand the impact of a good credit score.

My students will use the kit: Financial Literacy: Real World Math Skills to build their understanding of how math is connected to the day to day life. The books, The Lemonade War and Lemonade for Sale will give them a glimpse into the world of entrepreneurship.

My students are inquisitive and interested in how finances can effect the life choices they make. Hopefully, my students will gain the understanding purchases they make and why it is important save money from every pay check. It is my goal to help my students not join the world of living from pay check to pay check.

My Project

Money is hard to handle. It is easy to spend but sometimes hard to stretch to pay all of your bills and meet your family's obligations. Advertiser make it easy to get a case of the "I want " and ignoring the "I Need."

Life is full of choices and making the right financial choice can be difficult especially if no-one has taken the time to train a child how to manage their finances.

The kit Financial Literacy: Real World Math Skills will help the children become familiar with why the ability to control money is so important. The first credit card maybe easy to get, but it's hard to handle. Knowing when to use credit and how to make the payments so you don't get swallowed up by the interest can be tricky and have dire consequences.

It is my job as an educator to shed a bright light on the world of finances.
