My Project

My students need and deserve essential items to alleviate barriers to their entitled education. By providing my students with basic items such as uniforms, deodorant, and pencils as well as providing items for them to succeed academically, my students will be prepared and focused to do their absolute best in the classroom.

I also hope to make my counseling room welcoming for all students with interactive games and inspirational decor but also items for them to reflect and refocus.

I have several groups in my room daily and having snacks ready for them will take the stress of hunger out so that they can engage appropriately with their peers. Furthermore, having cleaning products in my room available will ensure a space where everyone will stay healthy.

Additionally, my students come to me daily with requests for personal hygiene items, which being able to provide them would allow them to focus on their schoolwork.

Some students need more; school is not one size fits all, and I would like to individualize my students' learning with items such as test privacy boards, planners/agendas, headphones, pencil fidget grips, and bands for their chairs to help them with their wiggly feet.

Lastly, I want to celebrate my students for their attendance achievements, as we always encourage them to come to school every day. Taking some of the stress out of school by having basic needs met will encourage them to come to school.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
