Have you ever felt emotions so big that you cannot even focus on what is being said right in front of your face? Those big emotions can be: overwhelmed, scared, nervous, mad, and/or sad. My students come to school after sometimes dealing with very violent nights in the neighborhood. Sometimes my students just need a quiet place to sit, relax, and fidget with something until they can gather their thoughts and relax all that is running through their heads. The sensory products and cubes that I am requesting will offer my Kindergarten -5th grade students the materials necessary to help calm them and get them ready to return to their lessons. When they need a change of scenery or more privacy to process or talk to a trusted adult they can then come to my room. The chair, legos, kinetic sand, and pin art will be offered to my students in my counseling room where they can consider that place safe for them to sit while utilizing the sensory items as we talk about their concerns, feelings, and/or behavior choices.
