My Students

I teach 4th grade Reading and Science. My students love having a large classroom library of books that they can choose to read throughout the school year. They also love learning new things in science and finding new ways to explore the world around them.

My students love to be active participants in their own learning.

They love hands-on projects, and are always excited to share what they have learned and show what they have made. They are inquisitive, creative, and hard-working. They make learning and teaching reading and science fun.

My school is a Title I school and is part of a school district that has over half of the students coming from low-income families. These students face many challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Having extra resources in the classroom helps their education and helps them to grow as a well-rounded student.

My Project

Teaching reading, my students always need new and exciting books to read during the school day. While I am running small groups, students have the opportunity to use our classroom library to find new books. It is important to have a wide variety of books so everyone can find something they love!

My students are excited when we get new books in our classroom library.

They can't wait to see the new books and check them out to read. My students get especially excited when we get new "Who Was" books. They love to read about people or events that have happened in the past, and these fun books often open up the door for many new conversations. I'm excited to get these new books for my students.
