Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students inspire me with their energetic interest in possibilities. I see their endless potential and thus believe they are a hope and a wish for a bright future. It is up to me and my colleagues to find ways to maintain their interests, spark their imaginations and harness this potential to help mold the future generations of this world.

At this age, so much is changing; their lives, their minds, their education.

And, even though this change is daunting and seemingly endless, many of them greet each day, ready to accept the challenge that lies before them; another mark of their potential.

What is most inspiring about these students is their circumstances. I teach in a Title I school with a wide variety of languages, ethnicity, and home-life situations. Yet, my students keep going. They keep coming to school, trying their best and giving it their all in the hopes that one day, despite whatever odds may be against them, they will tap into that potential, use what we have taught them and become the future generation of all educators aspire to cultivate.

My Project

My classroom library is lacking new, exciting books that kids are interested in reading. Right before the holidays, I asked my students simply, what books do they want? And boy did they respond! This project is just a portion of their requests, but we're starting small and hoping to increase our class library's offerings as we go.

These books are books students want - they've requested them themselves specifically for their own reading enjoyment.

I look forward to being able to provide them with these books so they can enjoy them all throughout the year.
