This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My children are a group of middle grade students that are eager and willing to learn. Our school is located on the south side of Chicago. Unfortunately, because of their location, many people already believe my students are at a disadvantage. I don't agree!
Every student can learn, and every student should be given the same opportunities as their peers.
A lot of my students have experienced communities riddled with violence and because of this, I believe they are stronger and even more determined not to let their environment define their possibilities. I have the pleasure of working with two sixth grade classes this year and our journey will strengthen and build upon previous math and science skills while preparing us for the future.
My Project
School will look different in the fall as we expect 100% of our students to be back in person. I have a Cricut machine that I will be using to make t-shirts for the 6th grade team. I want our grade level to feel special . The vinyl material will be used to make the t-shirts. Because we can't use the water fountain, I would like to make personalized water bottles for all of the students.
Bonding while safe will be how the 6th grade team starts off the fall school year.
