My students are a group of PreK - 8th graders that are eager and willing to learn. Our library has been closed for about ten years. The students are excited to be able to check out books that they want to read. Our school is located on the south side of Chicago. Unfortunately because of their location many people already believe my students are at a disadvantage. I don't agree!! A lot of my students have experienced communities riddled with violence and because of this, I believe they are stronger and even more determined not to let their environment define their possibilities. I have the pleasure of helping to mold young minds and equipping them with the resources to learn to love reading.
